The strawberries are doing fine too.  Notice the volunteer cherry tomato plant near them?  I hope it's a Black Cherry.

The wind has done some damage to one of the trellised vines. I tied it back up but it needs to be fixed until cut back next spring.

That's about it.

6/16 updates

This weekend I found out that the battery in the front irrigation system died and stopped working. In addition I completely re-ran the hose all around. Brand new everything and the micro tubes were almost unneeded.

More updates 5/18 and 6/1

Here are some pictures from 5/18. I had to start working on the tree that early. It looks like a cotton ball of green branches and leaves.

June first was a bad weekend. I arrived to find many of the plants hurt from the sun and heat. Even worse, two parts to the backyard irrigation system broke. The hose end by the shed (on the fourth cycle) busted and water was running out without any resistance when on. Also, a small sprinkler head broke on the back gardenbed and went directly into the backyard neighbor's when on. It probably went 9 feet high. Also, I didn't have the lawn sprinklers on high enough and there are some sun burnt spots. I turned the sprinklers up higher, but the damage was done.

The roses are a little hurt but will do fine. It's been around 100 degrees for a while now:

I dug out the unwanted rose (root shown below) and trimmed the backyard trees.

So I did a little work on the sprinkler system. I removed the two middle ones and added four more in a diamond pattern.

The soil is still a little bit tough.

Here's the new lawn, all leveled out. Click on the picture to see the two middle ones on (the two left most sprinklers are on too but you just can't see them).

The tree seems to be doing OK. It's been three months???

Last update

I've done just about all for the summer. I improved the tub a bit. Here is a before/after of the cauking. You can't see the non-slip decals since they are the same color as the tub.

I also had to replace the transformer since it stopped working (it appears to have been about a week). Some of the plants are dry. As a coincidence, while I was testing out the sprinkler system a cap blew off the black hose tubing and water went pouring everywhere. Very glad I was there (first time I actually was).

Click here to see a reduced quality video of the newest work. Don't mind the difference in color of the ground.

Mom, even though you can't see them in these pictures, you will probably be able to see a hummingbird every couple of minutes. There is a whole lot of activity, at least in the summer. Sometimes 2 at a time!

Lawn upgrade

Well, I got tired of all the yellow spots that wouldn't go away.  I hear it's common around here, but I thought that we could add soil amendments and mix it all up to start over again for better results.
