Update

There was a little problem under the tree.

Cleaned up.  You can see new shoots if yoy zoom in.

Back yard before and after:

Veggies.  A couple watermelon

And tomato plant out of control.  Look at it climbing the windmill.

The squash plants are dying from boarers. I'm starting new ones.

Two roses have died and I don't know why.

The fish are gone too.  I wonder if they learned to walk?

Do you want these? I think it's a palm.

Horseradish

One pomegranate tree is doing well.  The other will next year.

Here are some before and after shots:

The fish pond. They don't mind the flowers trying to keep their roots temporarily wet.

The jasmine? all the way to the left. What a jungle that was.

image

More of the jungle.

The catnip got a snip. It will grow like crazy this summer.

image

image

It actually took a while to get the horseradish under control. It had runners everywhere. For the fun of it I put what I dig up in a large pot you had around. Had nothing to lose. Its back there in the shade.

Attack of the bugs!  It's starting to cool down and the bugs are coming out.

image

Can you see another big caterpillar like the one above in the center of the picture below?

image

How about the 11 below that have eaten the parsley plants completely in just a week.
image

And of all things I found some kind of toad while cleaning behind the shed.

It took a while but I finally dug up the tree. And just in time to beat another storm.

August 21, 2015

It's time to start removing the tree, but its raining.

image

image

If you look closely, you can even make out the pea sized hail.
image

But I was able to work on it the next day. It was very rootbound and required breaking the roots away to be able to dig around it. I had to leave it half done until the next weekend.

August 1, 2015

The monsoon is helping things grow.  The lawn isn't being watered.

image

The fish are doing fine.

image

Here's a shot of the volunteer tomato plant with lots of cherry tomatoes and a flowering artichoke.
image

image

The horseradish was invading the rose, so I cut it back. The catnip needed a little tlc too.
image

image

And a few more shots.

July 4, 2015

Just a quick update. The front tree was out of control. Here's a shot of before and after.

The goldfish are doing fine.

June 20, 2015

The garden area looks fine.

image

Something dug this hole.

image

Fixed this again.

June 13, 2015

Not much to report on and most everything is in good shape. One of the vines fell over again but I didn't have the tools to fix it so I'll do that next Friday. Here are some pictures:

image

I'll trim the lower branches again too and keep them away from the house. The winds can be extreme in late summer.
image

image

image

image

image

Even more artichokes. I left the small one since I'll be back next week.
image

The Spaghetti squash plants are doing well, but I think some bugs might be eating them since some have small holes. But look how much they've grown since Memorial Day.
image

The onions are disappearing quickly, but I'll plant more when the monsoon arrives.
image

The strawberries are doing well and right next to them is the volunteer tomato plant. I might get my wish. It's at least a cherry tomato...
